The first step in playing a cash game is to buy-in. This means exchanging your money for chips at the table.

The Blinds:
Once everyone has bought in, the game begins with two players posting blinds. The player to the left of the dealer posts the small blind, which is usually half of the minimum bet for that game. The player to their left posts the big blind, which is equal to the minimum bet.
The Deal:
After the blinds have been posted, each player is dealt two cards face down (known as hole cards). These cards are yours alone and cannot be shared with anyone else at the table.
The Betting Rounds:
The action now moves clockwise around the table, starting with the player to the left of the big blind. Each player has several options:
- Call: match the size of the big blind
- Raise: increase their bet above that of the big blind
- Fold: give up their hand and exit that particular round
- Check: pass on betting if no one else has bet before them
The betting continues until all players have either folded or have put in the same amount of money.
The Flop:
Once the first betting round is over, the dealer will deal three cards face up in the middle of the table. This is known as the flop. These cards are community cards and can be used by all players to make their best hand.
The Turn:
After another round of betting, a fourth community card called the turn is dealt face up on the table.
The River:
After another round of betting, a fifth and final community card called the river is dealt face up on the table.
Showdown:
After all five community cards have been dealt, there is one final round of betting. If more than one player remains after this round, a showdown occurs where each player reveals their hole cards and the best hand wins.
The Winner Takes It All:
The winner of each hand takes all of the money that has been bet during that hand. The game then continues with another hand and players can buy-in again if they run out of chips.
