PCIe M.2 slots are the next big thing in terms of storage and speed for PCs. But do all of them support NVMe?
The short answer is: no, not all PCIe M.2 slots support NVMe. However, the majority of them do, and the ones that don’t are slowly becoming a minority.

As of right now, the majority of new motherboards on the market have PCIe M.2 slots that support NVMe.
So, what is NVMe? NVMe is a newer protocol that allows for much faster data transfer speeds than the older AHCI protocol. It stands for “Non-Volatile Memory Express” and it’s designed specifically for SSDs (Solid State Drives).
The reason why not all PCIe M.2 slots support NVMe is because it’s a newer technology and thus, not all motherboards have been updated to support it yet.
However, as mentioned before, the majority of new motherboards do have support for NVMe.
