So, who are these richest blackjack players? Let’s take a look at the five wealthiest blackjack players in the world.

1. William “Bill” Benter

Bill Benter is widely considered to be the richest blackjack player in the world. And it’s not hard to see why.

After all, he has an estimated net worth of over $1 billion.

Benter was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1957. He developed an interest in horse racing as a child and would often go to the local track with his father.

PRO TIP:The richest blackjack player cannot be definitively identified, as much of the game is based on luck. That said, the most successful blackjack players often use strategies such as card counting to increase their chances of winning and can make a very comfortable living from the game.

It was here that he learned about odds and probability – skills that would later serve him well at the blackjack table.

Benter went on to study physics at Seattle University but dropped out after just three years in order to pursue his dream of becoming a professional gambler. He moved to Las Vegas where he started out playing poker before eventually finding his way to blackjack.

It was in blackjack that Benter truly excelled. He pioneered the use of computer simulations to perfect his playing strategy and soon developed a system that allowed him to consistently beat the casinos.

Over the years, Benter has made hundreds of millions of dollars from playing blackjack. He even wrote a book about his experiences called “Beat the Dealer” which was published in 1981.

2. Edward Thorp

Edward Thorp is another extremely successful blackjack player with an estimated net worth of $800 million. Like Benter, Thorp is also a mathematician who used computer simulations to develop a winning strategy for playing blackjack.

Thorp was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1932. He studied mathematics at UCLA where he developed an interest in gambling and probability theory.

After graduation, he worked as a professor at MIT before eventually moving to Las Vegas to pursue his gambling career full-time.

It was here that Thorp met Benter and together they began developing their now famous blackjack strategy. They would later go on to open their own casino consulting firm which provided them with even more opportunities to make money from playing blackjack.
