Can You Count Cards in Blackjack Apps?

When it comes to blackjack, the house always has an edge. But what if there was a way to level the playing field? Counting cards has long been considered the Holy Grail of advantage play in blackjack. And while it’s certainly possible to count cards at a land-based casino, is it possible to do so when playing blackjack online?

The answer is…maybe. It all depends on the specific blackjack app you’re using. You see, most online casinos use what’s called a random number generator (RNG) to deal their blackjack hands.

This RNG is a piece of software that randomly selects cards from a virtual deck. And while it’s impossible to count cards with an RNG, some blackjack apps do away with the RNG and instead use a live dealer.

A live dealer blackjack game is one in which actual human beings deal the cards from an actual deck of cards. This means that, in theory, card counting should be possible. However, there are a few catches.

First off, most live dealer blackjack games are played with multiple decks of cards (usually six or eight). This makes counting much more difficult – if not impossible – for all but the most experienced counters.

Secondly, even if you could count cards at a live dealer blackjack table, the casino could simply kick you out or bar you from playing. After all, they are well within their rights to do so since card counting is technically illegal (though not prosecuted).

So, can you count cards in blackjack apps? The answer is maybe – but it’s certainly not easy and it’s not advisable if you want to keep your account in good standing with the online casino.
