Can You Play Blackjack Against Other Players?

In blackjack, players don’t play against each other. They play against the dealer.

The object of the game is to have a hand value that is greater than the dealer’s hand value, without going over 21.

Players take turns being the dealer. The role of the dealer rotates around the table, with each player taking a turn in the hot seat.

When it’s your turn to be the dealer, you’ll need to put up a bet called the “house minimum.” This is the minimum amount that all of the other players at the table must bet in order to stay in the game.

The house minimum bet is usually lower than the regular minimum bet. For example, if the regular minimum bet is $5, the house minimum bet might be $2.

This gives the players an incentive to keep playing even when they’re not winning, because they know that they’ll eventually get a chance to be the dealer and make some money.

Once all of the bets are made, the dealer will deal two cards to each player and two cards to themselves. One of the dealer’s cards will be face up so that all of the players can see it.

This is called the “up card.” The other card will be face down.

The player with the Lowest value hand will start by either asking for more cards (a “hit”) or staying with what they have (“stand”). Once they’ve made their decision, play will move clockwise around the table until all players have either busted (gone over 21) or chosen to stand.

If any player has a hand value that is equal to or greater than 21, they “bust” and automatically lose their bet. If all of the players bust except for one, that player wins automatically.

Otherwise, play will proceed to what’s known as “the showdown.”.

The showdown is when all of the remaining players compare their hand values to the dealer’s hand value. If any player has a higher value than the dealer (without going over 21), they win their bet.

If all of them have lower values, then everyone loses their bet except for those who have blackjack (an ace and a 10-valued card). In that case, those players push (tie) and get their money back.
