Can You Split Aces More Than Once in Blackjack?

In blackjack, aces can be worth either 1 or 11 points. If you are dealt an ace and a 10-point card, you have 21, or a blackjack.

However, if you are dealt an ace and a 2, you have 13. You can split aces in blackjack, which means that each ace is worth 11 points and you have two hands that each start with 11 points.

PRO TIP:In Blackjack, Aces can be split once only, meaning each Ace card will create two separate hands. Splitting Aces again is not allowed and will result in a hand of 12. In order to maximize your chances of winning, it’s best to stick with the original split.

You can only split aces once, though. If you split aces and then are dealt a 10-point card on one of the aces, you do not have 21; you have 12.

You might be tempted to split aces again, but this is not allowed in most blackjack games.

There are some variants of blackjack that do allow you to resplit aces if you are dealt another ace, but this is not standard blackjack. In most cases, splitting aces gives you two chances to hit 21, but it also carries the risk of ending up with two low-value hands.
