Does Colorado Springs Have a Casino?

As of now, Colorado Springs does not have a casino. This may be surprising to some, given that the state of Colorado does have casinos.

However, there are a number of reasons why Colorado Springs does not currently have a casino.

One reason is that the city is located in El Paso County, which does not allow casinos. The county commissioners have consistently voted against any proposal to allow casinos within the county.

This is likely due, in part, to the strong presence of the military in the area. Many believe that casinos would not be compatible with the family-friendly image that the city and county are trying to maintain.

Another reason why there are no casinos in Colorado Springs is because the state legislature has not yet approved them. Currently, only three cities in Colorado are allowed to have casinos: Black Hawk, Central City, and Cripple Creek. These cities were grandfathered in when casino gambling was first legalized in 1991.

In order for another city to get approval for casinos, the legislature would need to pass a bill specifically authorizing it. This is unlikely to happen anytime soon, as there is significant opposition from both lawmakers and citizens.

So, as of now, there are no casinos in Colorado Springs. However, this could change in the future if either the county commissioners or state legislature were to change their stance on the issue.
