Supporters of casino gambling argue that it would provide a boost to the state’s economy. They point to the jobs and revenue that would be generated by the construction and operation of casinos. They also argue that it would provide an additional form of entertainment for Georgians.

PRO TIP:No. Currently, casino gambling is not permitted in Georgia. In order to legally participate in casino gambling, residents must travel to another state.

Opponents of casino gambling argue that it would lead to an increase in crime and addiction. They also believe that it would take money away from other businesses, such as restaurants and movie theaters.

At present, it does not appear that casino gambling will be legalized in Georgia anytime soon. There are strong arguments on both sides of the issue, and the state legislature has not been willing to take up the issue.

Until there is a change in the political climate, Georgians will have to continue to travel out of state if they want to gamble at a casino.
