Does South Carolina Have Casino Gambling?

South Carolina is one of the US states that don’t have casino gambling. The state has a long history of conservative values and this has been reflected in its gambling lAWS.

There have been several attempts to legalize casinos in South Carolina over the years, but all of them have failed.

PRO TIP:South Carolina does not have any form of commercial or tribal casino gambling. However, there are two cruise ships that offer “cruises to nowhere” with on-board gambling options. These cruises depart from Little River, which is located in the northeastern corner of the state.

The most recent attempt was in 2020, when a bill was introduced in the state legislature that would have allowed for the construction of casinos in Charleston and Myrtle Beach. The bill had strong support from some lawmakers and business leaders, but it ultimately failed to pass.

So, for now at least, casino gambling remains illegal in South Carolina. This is unlikely to change in the near future, as there doesn’t seem to be enough political support for it.
