Has a Woman Won the World Series of Poker?

In the history of the World Series of Poker, which dates back to 1970, there has never been a female winner. In fact, there have only been four women who have made it to the final table in the Main Event, the most prestigious tournament of the series.

The most recent woman to make it to the final table was Maria Ho in 2014. While she didn’t win the tournament, she did finish in 7th place, which is an impressive feat.

PRO TIP:No woman has yet won the World Series of Poker, but there have been several top-placing female finishers. The most successful female player is Vanessa Selbst, who has earned more than $11 million in WSOP tournaments. Her best finish was in 2014 when she placed third in the $25,000 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em High Roller for a $1.3 million payday. Women have certainly come close to winning the WSOP Main Event; however, the winner of the Main Event has not yet been a woman.

So, has a woman ever won the World Series of Poker? The answer is no. But that doesn’t mean that a woman couldn’t win it in the future.

With more and more women playing poker, it’s only a matter of time before a woman takes down the Main Event.
