How Are Cards Dealt in Blackjack in a 2 Player Game?

In blackjack, each player is dealt two cards face down. The dealer then deals one card face up to each player, followed by a second card face up to himself.

After all the cards have been dealt, each player may take action.

The most common action is to hit, or receive another card. If the player’s hand totals more than 21 after hitting, he is said to have busted and his hand is immediately forfeited.

If the player’s hand totals 21 or less, he may choose to stand, or stop taking action.

Once all players have either busted or chosen to stand, it is then the dealer’s turn. The dealer must hit if his hand totals 16 or less, and must stand if his hand totals 17 or more.

If the dealer busts, all remaining players win their hands. Otherwise, the player with the closest hand total to 21 wins.

In a two-player game of blackjack, the cards are dealt as described above. Each player then has the option to hit or stand.

Once both players have taken action, the dealer then reveals his hole card and takes action accordingly. If either player busts during this final round of play, the other player automatically wins the hand.
