How Can Two People Play Blackjack at Home?

Blackjack is one of the most popular casino games. It is also one of the easiest games to play at home with just two people.

All you need is a regular deck of 52 cards and a flat surface to play on.

The basic premise of blackjack is to get as close to 21 as possible without going over, or “busting.” The player who gets closest to 21 without going over wins the hand.

To start, both players should agree on a minimum and maximum bet. Once the bets are made, each player is dealt two cards face up.

The dealer also deals themselves two cards, but only shows one of them.

The player to the dealers left starts the hand by either asking for more cards (“hitting”) or staying with the cards they have (“standing”). If the player hits and goes over 21, they automatically lose the hand (this is called “busting”).

If they stand, it then becomes the dealers turn.

The dealer must hit if their total is 16 or less, and must stand if their total is 17 or more. If the dealer busts, then the player automatically wins regardless of their own hand.

Otherwise, whoever has the closer total to 21 wins the hand.

If both players have the same total, it is a “push” and no money changes hands. After each hand, both players have the option to change their bets before the next hand is dealt.
