When you play blackjack, you are essentially playing a game of chance. The dealer will deal you two cards, and you will have the option to either hit or stand.
If you hit, the dealer will deal you another card, and if you stand, the dealer will move on to the next player. The goal of the game is to get as close to 21 as possible without going over, and to beat the dealer’s hand.

If you want to place a bet in blackjack, there are a few things you need to know. First, you need to know what the minimum and maximum bet limits are. These vary from casino to casino, so be sure to ask before you start playing.
Second, you need to decide how much money you want to bet. You can bet anywhere from the minimum up to the maximum amount allowed.
Once you have decided how much money you want to bet, it’s time to place your chips on the table. There are usually two betting circles in front of each player at a blackjack table – one for placing your main bet, and one for side bets.
To place your main bet, simply put your chips in the circle in front of your seat. To place a side bet, put your chips in the circle next to your main bet.
The dealer will then start dealing the cards. Once all of the players have their two cards, it’s time for them to make their decision – hit or stand? If everyone decides to stand, then the dealer will reveal their hand and whoever has the hand closest to 21 without going over wins.

Now that you know how blackjack works, let’s talk about how betting works. As we mentioned before, there is a minimum and maximum bet limit in place at every table.
This is important because it means that you cannot bet more than the table allows and if you do so, you will be asked to leave immediately. When placing your main bet, you can only bet within these limits – no more and no less.
However, there is one exception – if you have what’s called a “soft hand.” This means that your two cards could be worth either 11 or 1 point each (for example: an Ace and a 6).
In this case, if you were to hit and be dealt another card that would put you over 21 if counted as 11 points (say a 9), then your hand would “bust” and you would lose automatically. However, if that same 9 was counted as 1 point instead of 11 (since you already have an Ace counting as 11), then it would put your hand at 20 points and depending on what the dealer is showing; you might still have a chance of winning.
This is where side bets come into play. If you think that you might have a soft hand but are not sure, then you can make what’s called an “insurance” side bet which essentially means that if the dealer does indeed have blackjack; your loss on your main bet will be offset by your winnings on this side bet (usually 2-1 odds). However, if the dealer does NOT have blackjack; then not only do lose your insurance side bet but also automatically lose your main bet since having insurance essentially means that giving up half of your potential winnings from hitting blackjack yourself!
