How Do I Enable DIMM Slots in BIOS?

DIMM (dual in-line memory module) slots are the sockets on a computer’s motherboard that hold the DIMM memory modules. The number of DIMM slots varies depending on the motherboard.

For example, a typical desktop board has four DIMM slots, while a microATX board has two DIMM slots.

To enable a DIMM slot, you must first unlock the corresponding socket. This is done by opening the computer’s BIOS menu and navigating to the Memory Configuration section.

Once in this section, you will find an option to enable or disable each individual DIMM slot. Select the appropriate option to enable or disable a given slot, then save your changes and exit the BIOS menu.

If you need to install new memory modules in your computer, be sure to check the compatibility of the modules with your motherboard before purchasing them. Not all memory modules are compatible with all motherboards. Also, be sure to install the modules in the correct order.

Most motherboards have specific requirements for which slot must be filled first. Consult your motherboard’s documentation for more information on installing memory modules.
