How Do Mod Slots Work in Warframe?

Mod slots are the places where player-installed modifications go in Warframe. They provide bonuses to the stats of Warframes and weapons, and can be upgraded to improve those bonuses.

There are three types of mod slots:

Exclusive Slots & Free Spins Offers:

Aura: Affects Warframe abilities.

Polarity: Enhances damage output or decreases energy consumption.

Mod: Generic slot for all other mods.

Aura mods must be equipped in the aura slot, which is located at the bottom of the mod screen (default keybind “M”). Each Warframe has two aura slots, and each aura mod can only be equipped in one slot.

If an aura mod is placed in an empty slot, it will automatically go into the first available slot. If an aura mod is placed in a slot that already has a mod, the new mod will replace the old one.

Polarity mods must be equipped in a polarity slot, which is located next to the mod screen (default keybind “N”). There are four polarity slots on each Warframe and weapon, and each can hold one polarity mod.

If a polarity mod is placed in an empty slot, it will automatically go into the first available slot. If a polarity mod is placed in a slot that already has a mod, the new mod will replace the old one.

Mod slots are located on the main menu screen (default keybind “O”). There are 30mod slots on each Warframe and 32 on each weapon. Unlike aura and polarity mods, generic mods can be placed in any openmod slot. However, some mods can only be equipped if there is an open slot of the correct type (e.g.

, only certain weapon mods can go in weapon slots). If multiplemods of the same type are equipped, they will stack their effects (e.g., two damage Mods will increase damage by 40%).
