How Do You Play Blackjack With 6 Decks?

In a game of blackjack, each player is dealt two cards face down, with the dealer also receiving two cards, one face up and one face down. The aim of the game is to beat the dealer’s hand by either having a higher total than the dealer without going over 21, or by having the dealer go over 21 (bust).

If you are dealt an ace and a 10-value card (known as a blackjack), this automatically beats the dealer’s hand, regardless of their total. Blackjack pays 3-2, so you would be paid $15 for a $10 bet.

If your first two cards do not make blackjack, you can choose to “hit” and receive additional cards to try and improve your hand, or “stand” and keep your current total. Once all players have finished making their decisions, the dealer will then reveal their face down card and hit or stand based on their total.

If your hand totals more than 21 at any point, you have “busted” and automatically lose the hand. If the dealer busts, all remaining players win.

If neither player nor dealer has busted, the hand with the highest total wins.

The most common way to play blackjack uses six decks of 52 cards each. In this case, after each player has made their decision on their hand, the dealer will remove all used cards from the deck and replace them with new ones from the shoe (the box that holds the decks).

This continues until all six decks have been used.
