How Do You Play California No Bust Blackjack?

In California no bust blackjack, the player and dealer start with two cards each. The player may look at his or her cards, but the dealer’s cards are both face down.

The player may then either hit (take another card), stand (keep his or her hand), double down (double the bet and take only one more card), or split (if the first two cards have the same value, the player may split them into two hands).

If the player hits, he or she takes another card from the deck and adds its value to the hand. If this would cause the hand to exceed 21, the hand “busts” and the player loses.

If not, the player may hit again or stand.

If the player stands, he or she keeps the current total and takes no more cards. It is then the dealer’s turn to play.

The dealer must hit if his or her total is 16 or less and must stand if it is 17 or more. If the dealer busts, all players who have not also busted win their bets.

Otherwise, all players who have a higher total than the dealer win their bets, while those with a lower total lose theirs. Players with a total of 21 after splitting pairs also win their bets.
