How Do You Play Poker Razz?

If you’re looking for a fun and exciting poker game to play, look no further than Razz. Razz is a lowball poker game, which means the goal is to make the lowest possible hand instead of the highest. Here’s how to play:

1. The Setup:
Razz is typically played with 2-8 players.

Each player is dealt seven cards face down. The first two cards and the seventh card are dealt face down, while the middle three cards are dealt face up.

2. The Ante:
Before any cards are dealt, each player must put in an ante, which is a small bet that goes into the pot.

3. The First Betting Round:
After all players have received their initial seven cards, the first betting round begins. The player with the highest exposed card (the card that is face up) must start the betting by making a “bring-in” bet, which is typically half of the minimum bet for that game.

4. The Second Betting Round:
After all players have had a chance to act in the first betting round, another card is dealt face up to each player who remains in the hand. This begins another betting round, starting with the player who has the lowest exposed hand.

5. Third through Fifth Betting Rounds:
Three more cards are dealt face up to each player who remains in the hand, with a betting round after each card.

6. Seventh Street:
The final card in Razz is dealt face down to each remaining player followed by one last betting round.

7. Showdown:
If there is more than one player remaining after seventh street, there will be a showdown where all remaining players reveal their hands and compare them to see who has made the lowest hand according to traditional poker hand rankings.

8. Winning Hand:
In Razz, straights and flushes do not count against you when determining your hand strength; therefore, A-2-3-4-5 is the best possible hand. If no player has a qualifying low hand, the pot is awarded to the player with the highest hand.

Now that you know how to play Razz, it’s time to try it out for yourself. Remember, making the lowest possible hand is key, so keep an eye on your exposed cards and always be aware of what other players might be holding. Good luck at the tables!

PRO TIP:Razz is a variant of poker in which the lowest five-card hand wins. To play Razz, each player is dealt seven cards, three down and four up. Players must make the best 5-card low hand possible using all 7 cards. The lowest combination of cards is A-2-3-4-5, otherwise known as “the wheel”. In Razz, Straights and Flushes do not count against you. The betting structure is similar to other types of poker, with a Bring In bet on the 3rd round and a final round of betting before the showdown.
