How Do You Play Video Blackjack?

Most blackjack games are played with cards that are dealt face up. The player’s cards are dealt face down.

The dealer deals each player two cards and then deals himself two cards, one face up and one face down. Blackjack is usually played with one deck of 52 cards, but some casinos use multiple decks.

After the initial deal, the player can choose to hit (take another card), stand (stay with the hand they have), double down (double their bet and take only one more card), split (if the player has two cards of the same value, they can split them into two hands), or surrender (give up half their bet and end their turn).

If the player’s first two cards are an Ace and a 10-value card (known as a blackjack), they have a natural 21 and automatically win unless the dealer also has a blackjack, in which case it’s a push (a tie).

If the player’s total is closer to 21 than the dealer’s, the player wins. If the dealer’s total is closer to 21 than the player’s, the dealer wins.

If both totals are equal, it’s a push.

The basic strategy for blackjack is to always hit on totals of 11 or less, always stand on totals of 17 or more, and to hit on totals of 12-16 when the dealer is showing a 7 or higher. Following these guidelines gives the player a better chance of winning than if they just guessed what to do.

Players can also place side bets on whether they will be dealt a natural blackjack or not. These bets usually have a higher house edge than betting on who will win outright, so it’s generally not advisable to make these bets.
