How Does Double Deck Blackjack Work?

Double Deck Blackjack is a popular variation of the game that is played with two decks of cards instead of the usual six to eight decks. The basic rules of double deck blackjack are the same as those of regular blackjack, with a few variations.

The main difference is that in double deck blackjack, the player is dealt two cards face up, while the dealer receives one card face up and one card face down.

The player may look at their own cards but not share them with any other player. The dealer will then deal each player two more cards, face up.

At this point, all players have four cards total. The dealer will then deal themselves two more cards, one face up and one face down.

Players then have the option to hit or stand. If they choose to hit, they receive another card from the dealer. If they choose to stand, they keep their current hand. Once all players have either chosen to hit or stand, the dealer will reveal their face down card.

If the dealer has an ace and a ten-value card (a “blackjack”), they automatically win. Otherwise, the dealer will compare their hand to each player’s hand; whoever has the higher hand total wins.

The main difference between double deck blackjack and regular blackjack is that in double deck blackjack, the player is dealt two cards face up while the dealer only receives one card face up. This gives the player a significant advantage as they can see what the dealer’s potential hand could be before making their decision to hit or stand.

However, it should be noted that this advantage comes at a cost; because there are only two decks in play, the chances of being dealt a natural blackjack (an ace and a ten-value card) are significantly lower than in regular blackjack.
