How Is Blackjack Dealt in a Casino?

When you sit down at a blackjack table in a casino, the dealer will ask you to buy chips. You can buy as many or as few chips as you want, but most casinos require a minimum bet of $5.

Once you’ve bought your chips, the dealer will ask you to place your bet. You can bet any amount up to the amount of chips you have, but most casinos have a limit on how much you can bet per hand.

The dealer will then deal two cards to each player and two cards to herself. The dealers first card is dealt face up so that all the players can see it, but the second card is dealt face down.

All of the players cards are dealt face up so that everyone can see them.

Once all the cards have been dealt, the player to the dealers left starts the game by saying “hit” or “stand.” If the player says “hit,” the dealer will deal him another card. If the player says “stand,” the dealer will move on to the next player.

This continues until all the players have either said “stand” or gone bust (i.e., their total is greater than 21).

If at any point during the game any of the players goes over 21, they automatically lose and are out of that hand. The dealer will then move on to the next player.

Once all the players have either gone bust or said “stand,” it is now the dealers turn to play her hand. The dealer must hit if her total is 16 or less and must stand if her total is 17 or more.

If the dealers hand goes over 21, she automatically loses and all of the remaining players win their bets.

Once the dealer has either gone bust or said “stand,” all of the remaining players are paid out according to their bets. If they betted that they would get blackjack (i.e.

, an Ace and a 10-valued card), they are paid 3-to-2 odds on their bet; if they just bet that they would win, they are paid even money; and if they bet that they would lose, they lose their bet.
