In Texas Hold’em, each player starts with two hole cards and then five community cards are dealt face up in the middle of the table. These are the cards that every player can use to make their best five-card hand. Before the first card is dealt, each player must put an equal amount of chips into the pot. This is known as the “small blind” and the “big blind”.

The small blind is usually half of the big blind. For example, if the big blind is $2, the small blind would be $1.

After the first two hole cards are dealt, each player can either call (match the amount of the big blind), raise (bet more than the big blind), or fold (give up their hand and not bet any more money). Once all players have either called or folded, three community cards are dealt face up in the middle of the table.
