FireKeepers Casino is a Native American casino in Emmett Charter Township, Michigan, between Battle Creek and Marshall. The casino opened on August 5, 2009.

It is owned and operated by the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi. The casino has 2,900 slot machines, 70 table games, a poker room, and five restaurants.

The casino is located on the tribe’s Pine Creek Reservation. The tribe’s Huron-Potawatomi name for the local area is Nottawaseppi, which means “where the water boils” or “river of fire”.

The casino was developed by the tribe and Station Casinos, a Las Vegas-based gaming company. The tribe selected Station Casinos over three other firms because of its experience operating Native American casinos and its financial resources.

Groundbreaking for the casino took place on July 9, 2008.

The casino cost $300 million to build. It is one of the largest casinos in Michigan with 2,900 slot machines and 70 table games.

The casino also has a poker room with 14 tables and five restaurants.

The casino floor is 156,000 square feet (14,500 m2). The casino is open 24 hours a day.

It employs about 1,700 people.

The Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi are a federally recognized tribe of Potawatomi people. They are based in Michigan’s Lower Peninsula near Battle Creek.

The tribe has about 3,600 members.

In 2007, the tribe purchased land in Emmett Charter Township for $33 million to build the FireKeepers Casino. The tribe plans to use some of the profits from the casino to improve housing and create jobs for its members.
