How Many Slots Does Naskila Have?

Naskila Gaming in Livingston, Texas has over 350 electronic gaming machines (slots) as well as paper bingo. It’s a popular destination for Texans looking for some gambling fun outside of the traditional casino setting, and it’s only a short drive from Houston.

So how did Naskila get started? The Alabama-Coushatta Tribe of Texas opened a high-stakes bingo hall on their reservation back in 1987. But after the federal government passed the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act in 1988, the tribe had to shut down their operation.

The act allowed tribes to open casinos on their reservations, but only if the state in which they were located permitted commercial gambling. Since Texas didn’t (and still doesn’t) allow casinos, the Alabama-Coushatta Tribe was out of luck.

But in 2015, things changed. The U.S.

Supreme Court ruled that the state of Texas could not enforce its gambling lAWS on federally recognized Indian reservations. This opened the door for the Alabama-Coushatta Tribe to reopen their bingo hall, which they did in 2016 under the new name of Naskila Gaming.

Since then, Naskila has been thriving. It’s become a popular spot for both locals and visitors from out of state, and it continues to grow in popularity. So if you’re ever in Livingston, be sure to check out Naskila Gaming!.
