Is Choctaw Casino Reopen?

As the sun began to set on another day, the sound of distant laughter echoed through the empty halls of the Choctaw Casino. It had been months since the last time anyone had set foot inside the once-bustling casino, and the once-vibrant hallways now held nothing but echoes and dust.

But soon, those echoes may be replaced by the sound of slot machines and blackjack tables, as the Choctaw Casino is set to reopen its doors on May 19.

The Choctaw Casino has been closed since March 16 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, with Oklahoma now allowing casinos to reopen at reduced capacity, the Choctaw Casino is ready to welcome back guests.

“We’re excited to reopen our doors and welcome back our guests,” said CEO of the Choctaw Nation Gary Batton. “The health and safety of our employees and guests is our top priority, and we have taken extensive measures to ensure that our property is safe for everyone.”

Some of those safety measures include temperature checks for all guests and employees upon entry, increased cleaning and sanitization efforts, and social distancing guidelines throughout the property. Guests will also be required to wear masks while inside the casino.

Despite these safety measures, some members of the community are still hesitant about returning to the casino. However, with many people eager to get back to some sense of normalcy, it’s likely that the Choctaw Casino will see a steady stream of guests in the coming weeks.
