In 2008 the Match-E-Be-Nash-She-Wish Band of Pottawatomi Indians, also known as the Gun Lake Tribe, broke ground on their $300 million dollar casino project in Emmett Charter Township, Michigan. The Gun Lake Tribe is a federally recognized Indian tribe with around 3,000 members. The tribe has been trying to build a casino for over 15 years and finally were able to do so after getting approval from the Bureau of Indian Affairs in 2007.
