Is There a New Casino Being Built in Biloxi?

Since the early 2000s, Biloxi, Mississippi has been home to a booming casino industry. The city is now known as the “Gulf Coast gaming capital,” and it’s no wonder why.

With its close proximity to the Gulf of Mexico and its many tourist attractions, Biloxi has become a popular destination for both gambling and non-gambling tourists alike.

In recent years, Biloxi’s casino industry has only continued to grow. In 2014, the city’s 12 casinos brought in a record-breaking $650 million in revenue.

And, in 2015, those same casinos generated $677 million in revenue – an increase of 3.9% over the previous year.

With Biloxi’s casino industry continuing to thrive, there has been talk of adding even more casinos to the city. In fact, plans for a new casino resort were recently announced.

The $265 million project, which is being developed by the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians, is expected to break ground in early 2017.

The new resort will be located on 36 acres of land near downtown Biloxi and will feature a hotel with over 300 rooms, a convention center, a spa, and several restaurants. It will also have a gaming floor with over 1,500 slot machines and 50 table games.

The Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians already operates two other casinos in the state – one in Philadelphia and one in Pearl River County. If all goes according to plan, the tribe will soon have three casinos in Mississippi – all of which will be located within an easy drive of Biloxi.

There is no doubt that Biloxi’s casino industry is booming. With plans for a new casino resort in the works, it seems that the city’s gambling scene is only going to get bigger and better in the years to come.
