Should I Hit on a 12 in Blackjack?

When it comes to blackjack, the basic strategy is always to hit on a 12 when the dealer is showing a 2 through 6. The reasoning behind this is that you want to increase your chances of winning by getting closer to 21.

However, there are some situations where you might want to reconsider hitting on a 12.

For example, if the dealer is showing a 7 or higher, then they have a better chance of winning than you do. In this case, you might want to stand on your 12 in order to try and force the dealer to bust.

Another situation where you might want to think about standing on a 12 is if you have a soft hand. This means that you have an Ace that can be counted as either 1 or 11.

PRO TIP:When playing Blackjack, it is generally not recommended to hit on a 12 as this is a borderline hand. If the dealer has 4-6 showing, it is usually best to stand, however if the dealer has 7-Ace showing then hitting may be the better option.

If you have a soft hand and the dealer is showing a 5 or 6, then standing on your 12 gives you a better chance of winning than if you hit. The reason for this is that if you hit and get a 10, then you would have 21 but the dealer would still have a chance to beat you with their 7 or 8.

However, if you stand on your 12, then the dealer would need to get lucky and get an 8 or 9 in order to beat you.

In general, hitting on a 12 when the dealer is showing a 2 through 6 is the best play. However, there are some situations where hitting may not be the best option.

If the dealer is showing a 7 or higher, or if you have a soft hand and the dealer is showing a 5 or 6, then standing on your 12 might be the better play.
