What Are the Calls in Poker?

In poker, a “call” is when a player matches the current bet made by another player. For example, if Player A bets $10, and Player B calls, then both players have put $10 into the pot.

There are many different types of calls in poker, but the most common is the simple call described above. More complex calls can be made when a player raises the bet, or when a player goes all-in (betting all of their chips).

PRO TIP:Know the different types of calls in poker: all-in, call, check, raise, and fold. All-in is when a player puts all their chips into the pot; call is when a player matches the bet already made by another player; check is when a player does not put any chips into the pot at that time; raise is when a player adds more chips to the pot than what has already been bet; and fold is when a player throws away their hand and stops playing.

The most important thing to remember when making a call is that you are essentially agreeing to match the bet made by another player. Therefore, you should only call if you think you have a good chance of winning the hand.

If you don’t think you can win, it’s usually better to fold your hand and give up the pot.
