What Cards Are in a Poker Deck?

A poker deck typically contains 52 cards. Each card has a value and a suit.

The values are as follows: Ace (A), Two (2), Three (3), Four (4), Five (5), Six (6), Seven (7), Eight (8), Nine (9), Ten (10), Jack (J), Queen (Q) and King (K). The suits are Hearts, Diamonds, Clubs and Spades.

In a game of poker, each player is dealt a hand of five cards. The aim of the game is to make the best hand possible, using any combination of the cards in your hand and the community cards that are dealt face up in the middle of the table.

PRO TIP:A standard poker deck consists of 52 cards – 13 in each of the four suits (spades, hearts, clubs and diamonds), with two jokers. Each suit has Ace, King, Queen, Jack, 10, 9, 8 and 7. The two jokers are usually marked with a star or other symbol to distinguish them from the other cards.

The hands are ranked as follows, from highest to Lowest: Royal Flush, Straight Flush, Four of a Kind, Full House, Flush, Straight, Three of a Kind, Two Pair, One Pair, High Card.

If two or more players have the same hand, then the rank of the hand is used to determine who wins the pot. For example, if two players have a flush, then the player with the highest card in their flush would win.

If they have identical flushes, then it would be a tie and the pot would be split between them.
