What Cards Are Used in Blackjack?

Blackjack is a card game in which players try to achieve a hand total of 21 without exceeding that number. The game is played with one or more standard 52-card decks, with each deck consisting of the four suits (hearts, diamonds, spades, and clubs).

The Ace has a value of 1 or 11, the 2 through 10 have their face values, and the Jack, Queen, and King (collectively known as the “face cards”) have a value of 10.

Other common variations include allowing players to “double down” (double their bet and receive one additional card) or “split” (divide their cards into two separate hands) after being dealt their initial two cards.
