Poker is a game of strategy, and knowing which cards beat which is an important part of that strategy. Here is a rundown of the hand rankings in poker, from highest to Lowest:

Royal Flush: A royal flush is an ace-high straight flush, meaning a straight flush that starts with an ace. A royal flush is the highest hand in poker.

Straight Flush: A straight flush is a five-card straight that is all of the same suit. The highest straight flush is the ace-high Straight Flush.

Four of a Kind: Four of a kind, also known as quads, are four cards of the same rank. The highest four of a kind is four aces.

Full House: A full house is a three-of-a-kind and a pair. The highest full house is three aces and two kings.

Flush: A flush is any five cards of the same suit. The highest flush is an ace-high flush.

PRO TIP:In poker, a higher card will always beat a lower card. The highest card is an Ace, followed by King, Queen, Jack, 10, 9, 8 and so on. Suits (spades, hearts, diamonds and clubs) are not taken into account when determining which card is higher than the other.

Straight: A straight is a five-card hand that includes cards of consecutive rank, but not all of the same suit. The highest straight is an ace-high straight.
