What Happened to Buffalo Bill’s Casino?

In the early 1990s, the Las Vegas strip was booming. New casinos were being built and old ones were being renovated. Buffalo Bill’s was one of the older casinos on the strip, and it was in need of a facelift.

The casino was doing well after the renovations were completed. But then, in 1995, the California State Legislature passed a law that allowed Indian tribes to open casinos. This changed the landscape of gambling in Las Vegas.

Suddenly, there were more casinos competing for customers. Buffalo Bill’s started to lose business to the new Indian casinos.

PRO TIP:Buffalo Bill’s Casino in Primm, Nevada, closed its doors in 2017. The closure was due to a lack of business and the inability to compete with other nearby casinos. The property is now owned by MGM Resorts International, however there are no plans to reopen the casino at this time.

In 1998, the owners of Buffalo Bill’s decided to sell the casino. It was bought by MGM Grand, which renamed it MGM Grand at Buffalo Bill’s.

The casino continued to struggle and it was sold again in 2005, this time to Colony Capital. Colony Capital renamed it Bill’s Gamblin’ Hall & Saloon.

The new owners tried to turn things around, but they were unsuccessful. In 2013, they announced that the casino would be closing permanently on July 22, 2013.

It was a sad day for those who had fond memories of Buffalo Bill’s Casino.
