What Is a 21 Called in Blackjack?

A 21 is also called a blackjack. In blackjack, a player is dealt two cards, one face up and one face down. If the player’s first two cards are an ace and a ten-value card, they have a blackjack. If the dealer also has a blackjack, it is a tie.

PRO TIP:When playing Blackjack, a 21 is referred to as a ‘Blackjack’ or ‘Natural’. This is usually the highest score a player can get, and will result in an automatic win unless the dealer also has a Blackjack.

If the player has a blackjack and the dealer does not, the player wins 1.5 times their bet.
