What Is High and Low in Blackjack?

In blackjack, the term “high” refers to a hand that totals more than 11 points. A “low” hand is one that totals 10 points or less.

The two terms are used to describe the value of a player’s hand, and they are also used to indicate whether a player has the option to draw another card (hit) or not (stand).

A high hand is generally considered to be a strong hand, because it gives the player the option to hit and potentially improve their hand. A low hand is generally considered to be a weaker hand, because the player has less options for improving their hand.

PRO TIP:In Blackjack, the High card is any card with a value of 10 or more, and the Low card is any card with a value of 2 or lower. Knowing which cards are high and low can help you make better decisions when playing the game.

There are some exceptions to this general rule, however. For example, if a player has a high hand and the dealer has a low hand, the player may choose to stand instead of hitting in order to avoid busting their hand (going over 21).

Similarly, if a player has a low hand and the dealer has a high hand, the player may choose to hit in order to try and improve their hand.

In general, though, high hands are strong and low hands are weak. This is something that all blackjack players should keep in mind when making decisions about whether to hit or stand.
