What Is the Order in Texas Holdem Poker?

In Texas Holdem poker, the order of play is determined by two things: the position of the button and the betting structure. The person with the button is always the last to act, and the betting structure determines how much people can bet and when.

The most common betting structure in Texas Holdem is called “pot limit.” This means that the maximum amount you can bet on any given hand is equal to the size of the pot.

The pot includes all bets that have been made on that hand, including your own.

PRO TIP:Texas Holdem is a card game where players make their best 5-card hand using a combination of their 2 hole cards and the 5 community cards. The order of the cards, from highest to lowest, is Ace, King, Queen, Jack, 10 through 2. Players will make their best 5-card hand by combining any of their hole cards with any of the community cards. The player with the highest ranking 5-card hand wins the pot.

If there are two or more players still in the hand when it gets to you, you have a few options. You can either check, which means you don’t bet but you stay in the hand, or you can bet the amount of the pot.

If someone else has already bet, you can raise, which means you match their bet and then add more. Or, you can fold, which means you give up your hand and any chance of winning the pot.

The order of play in Texas Holdem poker is determined by position and betting structure. The person with the button always acts last, and in pot limit games, the maximum bet is equal to the size of the pot.
