What Is the Ranking of Cards in Poker?

Poker is a game of chance played with cards. The object of the game is to win money by betting on the value of your hand.

The rank of cards in poker is determined by the value of the card, with the ace being the highest value, followed by the king, queen and jack. The ten is the Lowest value card.

PRO TIP:In poker, the highest ranking card is an Ace, followed by a King, Queen and Jack. The remaining cards are ranked from 10 to 2. When multiple players have the same ranking hands, the one with the highest suit wins. Suits are ranked alphabetically from Club (lowest) to Spades (highest).

The suits of cards have no bearing on the rank of the cards. For example, a flush (five cards of the same suit) will beat a straight (five cards in sequence), but both hands will lose to a royal flush (a straight flush consisting of the ace, king, queen, jack and ten of one suit).

The most important thing to remember when playing poker is that it is a game of skill. The better you know the odds and probabilities of winning, the better your chances of winning money.
