When Did Camel Rock Casino Close?

Camel Rock Casino, located in Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA, was a Native American casino owned and operated by the Santa Clara Pueblo. The casino was open for business from 1992 until 2019.

The casino was named after Camel Rock, a nearby natural rock formation. It featured a 12-story hotel with 200 rooms, a convention center, and a gaming floor with over 700 slot machines and 30 table games.

The Santa Clara Pueblo Tribe purchased the land for the casino in 1989 for $4 million. The tribe then invested $40 million to build the facility, which opened in 1992.

The casino was successful in its early years, but began to struggle financially in the mid-2000s. In 2006, the tribe defaulted on its $27 million loan from Bank of America.

The casino did not make a profit in 2013 or 2014, and as a result, it closed its doors on August 31, 2019. The closure left over 200 people out of work.

The Santa Clara Pueblo Tribe has not announced any plans to reopen the casino.
