Sky City Casino is a hotel and casino complex located in the central business district of Auckland, New Zealand. The complex is one of the largest in the Southern Hemisphere and includes two hotels, a convention centre, a theatre, restaurants, bars and a casino.
The casino is the only one in New Zealand and is owned and operated by Skycity Entertainment Group.

The casino opened on 14 February 1996 and was originally known as the “Auckland Casino”. The complex underwent a major expansion in 2006 which saw the addition of the Sky Tower, a 288-metre (946 ft) observation deck and one of the tallest structures in the Southern Hemisphere. The expansion also saw the addition of two new hotels, the Grand Hotel and the SkyCity Hotel.
The casino complex now covers an area of 4.5 hectares (11 acres) and includes over 100 gaming tables and 1,600 gaming machines.
The Sky Tower is Auckland’s most prominent landmark and is one of the most popular tourist attractions in New Zealand. The tower has three viewing platforms, two restaurants, a café and a bar.
The SkyWalk, a 192-metre (630 ft) high walkway around the perimeter of the tower’s main pod, was added in 2005. The tower is also used for telecommunications purposes and has several antennas attached to its exterior.
The SkyCity Casino is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week with table games starting at 10am daily. Gaming machines are available from 9am daily.
Admission to the casino is free but there is a dress code which requires patrons to dress smart casual. Children under 18 years of age are not permitted into the casino unless accompanied by an adult.
