When Did Sky City Casino Open?

Sky City Casino is a hotel and casino complex located in the central business district of Auckland, New Zealand. The complex is one of the largest in the Southern Hemisphere and includes two hotels, a convention centre, a theatre, restaurants, bars and a casino.

The casino opened on 14 February 1996 and was originally known as the “Auckland Casino”. The complex underwent a major expansion in 2006 which saw the addition of the Sky Tower, a 288-metre (946 ft) observation deck and one of the tallest structures in the Southern Hemisphere. The expansion also saw the addition of two new hotels, the Grand Hotel and the SkyCity Hotel.

The casino complex now covers an area of 4.5 hectares (11 acres) and includes over 100 gaming tables and 1,600 gaming machines.
