When Should You Split Cards in Blackjack?

If you have a pair of aces: You should always split aces in blackjack. This is because splitting aces gives you two chances to hit a blackjack, which pays out 3-2.

If you don’t split your aces, then you’re only playing for a 1-1 payout on your hand.

If you have a pair of eights: You should also always split eights in blackjack. This is because if you hit two 8s, you have 16, which is considered a very poor hand.

If you split your eights, you have two chances of hitting 18, which is a much better hand.

If you have a pair of twos: You should only split twos if the dealer is showing a five or six. This is because if you hit two 2s, you have four, which is considered a very poor hand.

If you split your twos and hit three or four, then you have a much better chance of winning the hand.

If you have a pair of threes: You should only split threes if the dealer is showing a four, five, or six. This is because if you hit two 3s, you have six, which is considered a very poor hand.
