Which RAM Slots for Dual Channel?

The two most common types of RAM are SDRAM and DDR SDRAM. SDRAM (Synchronous Dynamic RAM) is the older type of RAM, and is not as fast as DDR SDRAM.

DDR SDRAM (Double Data Rate SDRAM) is the newer type of RAM, and is much faster than SDRAM.

When you have two sticks of RAM, you can put them in either two different slots or in the same slot. If you put them in the same slot, they will work together in what is called Dual Channel mode.

Dual Channel mode is faster than using just one stick of RAM by itself.

So, if you have two sticks of RAM, it is best to put them in the same slot if your motherboard supports Dual Channel mode.
