Who Bought the Sands Casino in Bethlehem?

In May of this year, the Sands Casino in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania was sold to an American Indian tribe from Connecticut for $1.3 billion.

The sale came as a bit of a surprise to many in the industry, as it was widely assumed that the Sands would be sold to a larger casino operator such as Las Vegas Sands or Wynn Resorts. However, in the end, it was the Mohegan tribe who emerged victorious and submitted the winning bid.

PRO TIP:The Sands Casino in Bethlehem was purchased by Wind Creek Hospitality, an affiliate of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians, in 2019. This purchase was part of a $1.3 billion deal that included the sale of two other casinos and a horse racetrack located in Pennsylvania.

The Mohegan tribe has big plans for the Sands Casino, and they are already in the process of investing $190 million to renovate and expand the property. When all is said and done, they hope to transform it into a premier destination resort that will attract visitors from all over the world.

The Mohegan tribe is no stranger to the casino business, as they have been running their own successful operation in Uncasville for many years. With their experience and expertise, there is no doubt that they will be able to make the Sands Casino a huge success.

Only time will tell if their investment will pay off, but one thing is for sure – the future looks bright for both the Mohegan tribe and the Sands Casino.
