Who Died in the Outcast of Poker Flat?

In 1859, a group of Californian gamblers head to the small town of Poker Flat to enjoy a game of cards. However, their game is interrupted by a group of men who object to their gambling and want them to leave.

The group is forced to leave town and camp in the nearby woods.

During the night, one of the gamblers, John Oakhurst, wakes up and sees that one of the men in the group, Uncle Billy, has stolen all of their money. Oakhurst tries to stop him, but Uncle Billy runs away.

Oakhurst then goes back to sleep.

The next morning, the group wakes up and realizes that Uncle Billy has taken all their money and food. They have no choice but to head back into town and try to get help.

When they reach town, they find that everyone has died from a disease that was spreading through the area. The only person left alive is a young girl named Tom Simpson.

The group decides to head back out into the woods and camp there for the night. During the night, Oakhurst dies from the disease.

The next morning, Tom Simpson also dies.

The only two people left alive are the gambler Dorset and a woman named Duchess. They decide to stay in the woods and live off the land.

Duchess eventually gives birth to a baby girl. They name her Poker Flat after the town where they first met.
