Who Owns DraftKings at Casino Queen?

In 2015, the daily fantasy sports companies DraftKings and FanDuel were valued at $1.5 billion and $1 billion, respectively. But just two years later, both companies are struggling to stay afloat. In May of 2017, the Casino Queen in East St.

Louis, Illinois became the first casino in the country to offer daily fantasy sports betting. And as of right now, it is the only casino in the state of Illinois that offers this type of gambling.

So who owns DraftKings at Casino Queen? The answer may surprise you.

While DraftKings is headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts and FanDuel is headquartered in New York City, both companies are actually owned by British bookmakers. In 2016, DraftKings was acquired by Paddy Power Betfair, an Irish gambling company, for $48 million.

And in 2017, FanDuel was acquired by Paddy Power Betfair’s rival, Flutter Entertainment (formerly known as Paddy Power), for $565 million.

PRO TIP:The ownership of DraftKings at the Casino Queen is shared between Penn National Gaming and The Cordish Companies. Both companies have an equal stake in the ownership.

So why are these British bookmakers so interested in daily fantasy sports?

The answer lies in the fact that daily fantasy sports is a rapidly growing industry that is still largely unregulated. In the United States, there are currently no federal lAWS regulating daily fantasy sports.

And while some states have passed their own lAWS or regulations, the industry is still largely unchecked. This makes it an appealing industry for bookmakers looking to make a quick buck.

However, it remains to be seen how long these bookmakers will stay interested in daily fantasy sports if the industry continues to be plagued by scandals and legal troubles. In 2015, DraftKings and FanDuel were embroiled in a scandal involving employees who used inside information to win prizes on rival sites.

And just last year, both companies were hit with lAWSuits alleging that they engaged in false advertising and misleading practices.

As of right now, it’s unclear who owns DraftKings at Casino Queen or how long the company will continue to offer daily fantasy sports betting at the casino. But one thing is for sure – with Paddy Power Betfair and Flutter Entertainment now owning a majority stake in both DraftKings and FanDuel, the future of daily fantasy sports looks bright for these British bookmakers.
