Who Owns Hard Rock Casino Lake Tahoe?

In January 2020, Hard Rock International announced that it had completed the purchase of Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Lake Tahoe from private equity firm Apollo Global Management. The purchase price was not disclosed.

With the completion of the transaction, Hard Rock now owns and operates 12 casinos around the world.

Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Lake Tahoe is located in Stateline, Nevada, on the South Shore of Lake Tahoe. The property features two hotels with a total of 539 rooms and suites, a casino with approximately 1,500 slot machines and 60 gaming tables, 10 restaurants and bars, a live music venue, and a spa.

The property was originally developed by Park Cattle Company and opened as the Sahara Tahoe in 1965. It was later acquired by Del Webb Corporation and renamed as the High Sierra Hotel & Casino.

Apollo Global Management purchased the property in 2008 and undertook a major renovation and rebranding effort, transforming it into the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Lake Tahoe.

In addition to owning Hard Rock International, the Seminole Tribe also owns and operates six Seminole Casinos in Florida.
