The Rivers Casino in Schenectady is owned by the Rush Street Gaming group. The casino opened its doors on February 8, 2017, becoming the first casino in UPState New York.
The casino is located on the Mohawk River in Schenectady’s Mohawk Harbor.
The Rivers Casino is a $330 million dollar project that was first proposed in 2013. The project was met with some opposition, but ultimately was approved by the state gaming commission in 2015.
The casino is owned by Rush Street Gaming, a Chicago-based company that also owns and operates casinos in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and Des Plaines, Illinois.
The Rivers Casino features a 50,000 square foot gaming floor with over 1,150 slot machines and 67 gaming tables. The casino also has a number of restaurants and bars, as well as a 10,000 square foot event center that can accommodate up to 1,500 people.
The Rivers Casino has been a boon to the city of Schenectady, providing hundreds of jobs and millions of dollars in tax revenue. The casino has also helped to revitalize the Mohawk Harbor area, which was previously an industrial site.
