The casino is named for Pete MacIntyre, a Canadian-born prospector and bootlegger who lived in the area in the early 1900s. In 1931, he constructed a two-story adobe house in Goodsprings, which he used as both a home and a general store.

He also operated a still in the desert. After his death in 1933, his house became known as Whiskey Pete’s Cabin.
