Who Won the World Series of Poker in 2013?

The 2013 World Series of Poker (WSOP) was held from May 28-July 16 at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. This was the 44th annual WSOP event, and the first one since the death of previous WSOP owner and operator, Binion’s Horseshoe Casino.

The Main Event began on July 7 with 6,352 entrants. After nine days of play, the field was reduced to the final table of nine players on July 16.

PRO TIP:The 2013 World Series of Poker was won by the American player Ryan Riess, who took home the grand prize of $8.3 million.

The final table consisted of professional poker players Amir Lehavot, Mark Newhouse, Ryan Riess, Jay Farber, Michiel Brummelhuis, Sylvain Loosli, JC Tran, David Benefield, and bubble boy Marvin Rettenmaier.

Heads-up play began with Lehavot holding a slight chip lead over Riess. After a back-and-forth battle, Riess eventually emerged victorious to become the 2013 WSOP Main Event champion.

He took home $8,361,570 in prize money, while Lehavot earned $5,173,170 for his runner-up finish.
