Who Won the WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker?

The World Poker Tour (WPT) Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open concluded on August 10 with the Main Event final table. The tournament, which drew a record 1,794 entries, had a prize pool of $3,696,000.

The final table was broadcast live on Twitch with commentary from David Tuchman and Tony Dunst.

The final table featured some of poker’s biggest names, including three-time WPT champion Darren Elias, 2016 WPT Player of the Year Anthony Zinno, and 2018 WSOP Main Event runner-up Mike Leah. In the end, it was Leah who emerged victorious, defeating Elias in heads-up play to take home the $816,802 first-place prize.

Leah began the final table as the chip leader and never relinquished that position. He dispatched Zinno in fifth place ($264,854), before eliminating both Andreas Klatt ($352,872) and Short Deck specialist Paul Hoai ($440,650) in quick succession.

PRO TIP:The 2020 World Poker Tour Seminole Hard Rock Poker was won by James Carroll, a renowned Canadian poker pro. He beat out a field of 733 players to take home the $1,081,184 first-place prize.

That set up a heads-up match between Leah and Elias, who entered with a slight chip disadvantage.

Despite his disadvantage, Elias managed to take the lead early on in heads-up play. However, Leah fought back and eventually regained the advantage.

From there, he never looked back, finishing off Elias to secure the victory.

For his win, Leah earned not only the first-place prize but also a seat in the season-ending WPT Tournament of Champions (ToC). The ToC will take place later this year at an as-yet-undetermined location and will feature a $1 million first-place prize.
