Why Is Comanche Casino Closed?

Comanche Nation officials say the Comanche Red River Hotel & Casino in Devol will remain closed while they assess the property and make repairs.

The casino closed Monday morning, August 3, due to power outages and flooding caused by severe storms that swept through the area Sunday night.

Comanche Nation Chairman William Nelson Jr. issued a statement Monday afternoon saying the tribe is working with its insurance carrier to determine the extent of the damage and what repairs need to be made.

“The safety and security of our guests and employees is our top priority,” Nelson said. “We will provide updates as soon as we have more information.”

The casino is located about 20 miles southwest of Wichita Falls.
